Home at last!

After much saving, stress, and general craziness Richard and I purchased our new home in Eagle River. Are you surprised it isn't in Fairbanks? Thinking it's a long commute? Well, Richard's job got transferred to Anchorage before we got a chance to buy a house here in Fairbanks, so we thought it over, and decided moving to Anchorage wouldn't be the end of the world. I mean, they DO have Arby's there!

So we looked at houses and fell in love with this one in Eagle River. Here is the front porch of 18917 Third Street, our soon to be new home!

The two car gargae that won't fit Rich's truck but will definately fit mine!!! A heated garage at last....

The lovely (and perfect for dogs) back yard. The dogs are the current owners, and the people are our realtor and home inspector...it's not the best picture, but it shows how big the yard is.

The living room was what sold me, look at the windows, the light, the open airiness...The ceiling is vaulted, and has lots of space for Richard's dead animal (aka trophy) collection.

AND we have a fireplace. So exciting!

I have big plans for the dining room already, it also has wonderful sunshine.
A blurry picture of the walk through kitchen (it's on the other side of the fireplace). Gas range and nice cabinets and laminate flooring.
Here's looking up at the living room ceiling and the open hallway to the upstairs bedrooms.

Here's down into the living room.

And down into the front entry.
A tiny master bedroom - with some interesting country decor....I'm totally ripping all that out!
I feel so patriotic just looking in the spare bedroom - don't worry we'll change this around before we have guests.
And the last bedroom is ready for baby - too bad Rich and I aren't. Maybe in a few years :) For now we have plans to turn this into a library and office.
We'll post more pictures this summer when we are actually living in our new house, and replace these pictures with ones of us, with our things inside!!! PS - I am happy to report that it is only 18 minutes from our house to work, 2 minutes from our house to the Eagle River Arby's, and 30 seconds to the Eagle River Walmart. It is also 15 minutes to the Iditirod Trail and Chugach State Park, and 3 minutes from the nest of the eagles that actually live in Eagle River.

YOUR HOUSE IS SO AWESOME!! You've GOT to put up recent pictures - I can't wait to see what you've done with the place. Can you pop up some pics of your yard in summer???
