More of Bahston!

I was in Boston for a week, and I had a lot of fun walking downtown and seeing History. Alaska has history too, but not at the same level as here.

Copps Hill Cemetery was beautiful, austere, and sobering. Most of the headstones were for young children and for people under 40. A very few lived older than that. The stones are carved with winged skulls, or little cherubs. They are wonderfully higgledy-piggeldy all over the hill. There were also beautiful old trees with all their fiery leaves overhanging the cemetery.

Across the street was the thinnest house I'd ever seen - the guidebooks confirm this. Look at Liz - the whole thing must be no more than 12 feet wide!

Also in the guidebook was the gripping story of the great molassess spill that occurred near Copp Hill. It killed 21 people apparently. What were ancient Bostonians doing with 1 million gallons of molasses? Apparently it's a key ingredient in making liquor. There was a book on the molasses incident, but it did not start with "It's a dark and sticky night..." :)

Did someone put that house on a diet?! I can't imagine trying to move a sofa around in there...
